The day one of the second Test match between England and India at Lord’s belonged to the visitors as they posted 276 for the loss of just three wickets. KL Rahul’s brilliance and opener Rohit Sharma’s classy 83 ensured India the upper hand.
India skipper Virat Kohli got his eye in and scored a streaky 42 before Ollie Robinson sent him back. During his stay at the crease, the right-hand batter failed to get going and was not at his usual fluent best.
With Kohli registering yet another low score, fans took to Twitter to slam the Indian captain. It was against Bangladesh in 2019 that Kohli last scored a century and since then, he has not a got three-figure mark, which is otherwise excepted from his blade.
In his glorious 13 years of international career, the Indian skipper has broken records for fun and has displayed an undefeatable appetite for scoring runs, and hence, his failure to score a century for almost two years now have started worrying the fans.
🎶 Here’s to you Ollie Robinson, England loves you more than you will know! 🎶

Time for @imVkohli & @cheteshwar1 to go. Bring in Gill, Shaw & Suryakumar Yadav. Clean up the middle order with fearless youngsters, not cat-on-a-hot-tin-roof Pujara & Kohli #INDvENG

Former India batter Ajay Sharma, however, was quick to defend Kohli and felt the fans were being too critical of the man who has achieved a lot in the past.
"There's no doubt about Virat Kohli's class. Over the years, Kohli has done wonderfully well for the team and, I am sure he will come out of his current lean patch soon," he told Sputnik on Friday.
"I feel the people who are calling him an overrated cricketer seem to have no understanding of the game," he added.
