India are all set to take on England in the fifth rescheduled Test match on the 1st of July. The five-match series continued from last year will create history if India are able to win the final match. The Indian team have never been able to win a Test series in England.

However, there has always been a fierce competition between the two teams. Many Indian batters have had outstanding performances against England. Here are the most runs by Indian batters against England in a Test series.

3. Virat Kohli- 593 runs in 2018

The former Indian skipper Virat Kohli had a stellar run with the bat against England in 2018. He scored 593 runs in the five matches that he played. He also scored two centuries and three half-centuries in the series.

With an average of 59.3, Virat was the highest run-scorer of the series. Although India lost the series by a huge margin of 4-1, Virat Kohli's brilliance gave the fans a ray of hope in the series. The series had been thoroughly dominated by the now 33-year-old.

2. Rahul Dravid- 602 runs runs in 2002

India played England in a four-match Test series in 2002. With the two teams winning one game each and the remaining two ending in a draw, the series remained level at 1-1. For India, Rahul Dravid was the star of the Test series.

Dravid, also known as the wall of the Indian team, had an outstanding run. He scored 602 runs in the series at a massive average of 100.33. The former Indian player scored two hundreds in the series, of which he turned one into a double hundred.

2016 was the best year for Virat Kohli in all forms of the game. He scored back-to-back hundreds and broke records after records in the year. His performance against the England team was no different.

The home series was a great one for the Indian team as the Virat Kohli and Co. defeated the visitors 4-0. The captain led the team from the front, scoring 655 runs, including his highest score of 235 runs in eight innings. He had an average of 109 in the series.
