India hammered the West Indies side by a massive 68 runs in the first T20I of the five-match series on Friday. After Shikhar Dhawan led the Men in Blue to an ODI series whitewash against West Indies, Rohit Sharma returned to take charge of the T20I side. With this win, Rohit Sharma has entered his name into the record books. He has now won seven matches against West Indies as a captain.

1. Dhoni vs Australia- 9 times
MS Dhoni, the legendary Indian captain has done it all on the cricket field. He has led India to win every trophy available. Serial winner, MS Dhoni won India the ODI World Cup, T20I World Cup, Champions League and a hoard of other trophies.
Taking over an Indian side that remained in the shadow of Australia in white ball cricket, Dhoni dominated the team from down under. As an Indian captain, he defeated Australia a record nine times, the most by any Indian captain in T20Is.
2. Rohit Sharma vs West Indies- 7 Times
Rohit Sharma with this latest win against West Indies moves onto the second spot as the most wins against a T20I team for an Indian captain. With two T20I games left in this series, Rohit Sharma could surpass MS Dhoni’s record.
3. Rohit Sharma vs Sri Lanka- 7 Times
Rohit Sharma has also won seven times against Sri Lanka, matching his record of most wins against a T20I team. This record came in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in February this year. Rohit Sharma won his seventh match as captain against Sri Lanka on 27th February 2022 when India won by six wickets against their friendly neighbours.
4. Virat Kohli vs England- 7 Times
Virat Kohli, India’s previous captain, took India to great heights in Tests with Ravi Shastri as the head coach. India reached the pinnacle of Test rankings, which was a rare sight previously.
Kohli however also lead a good white-ball team under his captaincy. His record of seven wins as captain against Australia in T20I is something that proves this. Kohli on 16th September announced that he would step down from Indian T20I captain.
