However, he failed to perform well for his country in the New Zealand tour and the 20-20 World Cup. Even, before the World Cup, he made headlines regarding his controversy with the Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela.

Now, Urvashi Rautela came up with an interview where she clarified the real person to whom she referred ‘Mr. RP’ during her interview.

While speaking in an interview with Hindustan Times, Urvashi said that she was unaware that Rishabh Pant is also known as RP. She said: "RP is my co-actor and stands for Ram Pothineni. I was not even aware that Rishabh Pant is also known as RP. People just assume stuff and write about it.”
“And to those believing in such rumors, I’d say they need to analyze a little. If you haven’t seen anything, or just because some Youtuber or for that matter anyone is saying something, how can you simply believe it?" she added. Urvashi also opened up about the trolling she received when she was in Australia at the same time as team India playing the 20-20 World Cup there.
"We always see comparisons being made that cricketers have way more respect than actors, or that they earn more than actors, and that bothers me a lot. I do understand that they play for the country, and are loved and respected largely. But actors as well have done so much. They’ve also represented the country. I myself have done that so many times. But I don’t like these silly comparisons,” Urvashi Rautela said. It all started with an interview with the actress where she said that a man with the name ‘RP’ waited for her for hours in a hotel lobby. After that people assumed that person to be Rishabh Pant. Speaking about his form, he had a forgettable tour in New Zealand. In four innings, he scored only 42 runs.
