KKR opening batsman Nitish Rana said that MS Dhoni has always been a God-like figure to wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Nitish Rana further stated that Rishabh Pant himself feels that he is not worthy of being compared to the World Cup-winning captain. After getting into the Indian team, the young batsman had faced many difficulties as he was often compared to Dhoni. Stepping into Dhoni's giant shoes was never easy for anyone. Thus comparisons with the legendary cricketer made life difficult for Rishabh Pant.

The 23-year-old batsman was often criticized for his poor wicketkeeping skills and reckless shot selection. However, the youngster bounced back and muffled everyone with his performances against Australia and England. Back to back impressive performances in Australia and home series against England have made now made Rishabh Pant India's first-choice wicket-keeper for the upcoming WTC final.

Talking about his performances against Australia, Pant scored 97 runs off 118 deliveries in Sydney in 2021. Chasing a mammoth target of 407, he gave the hosts a real scare. The youngster not only helped team India save the match but actually threatened to win the match as long as he was out there in the crease.

Pant then produced one of the best knocks of his career in the fourth innings. He remained undefeated on 89 off 138 deliveries as India chased down the target of 328 with three wickets in hand at the Gabba. Against England, Rishabh Pant counter-attacked and smashed 101 runs off 118 balls. He helped in taking India from 80 for 4 to above 350 in the final Test at Motera in Ahmedabad.

Talking about the ODI series against England, Rishabh Pant smashed a 40-ball 77 in the first ODI. The 23-year old helped KL Rahul add 113 runs in 80 balls to help take the hosts to 336 in 50 overs. In the third ODI of the series decider, Rishabh Pant played in a similar way. The keeper-batsman attacked the visitors and added 99 runs in 73 balls with Hardik Pandya. He top-scored with 78 off 62 balls, consisting of five boundaries and four sixes. It gave India 329 to defend, and they won the match by seven runs to take the series. Now, it will be interesting to see if Rishabh Pant continues his excellent form in the WTC final.
