Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni added another feather to his Illustrious T20 career. The veteran took the field for the 200th time for his franchise in Match No.8 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Dhoni has featured in 206 matches in the IPL. The 39-year-old has made 176 appearances for CSK in the IPL besides making 24 outings for the team in the Champions League T20 tournament. Dhoni had also featured in 30 IPL matches for Pune Supergiant during 2016 and 2017 when the CSK team was banned following the spot-fixing scandal.

MS Dhoni marked his 200th game for CSK with a crushing six-wicket win over KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings. All-rounder Moeen Ali smashed 46 off 31 balls as CSK reached 107 for four. The yellow army secured their first win of the season with 26 balls to spare. This was a very crucial win for MS Dhoni as they lost their first game of the season against Delhi Capitals. This victory has now put them among six teams in the eight-team Twenty20 leagues with one win from two games. MS Dhoni now knows that they will need more consistency as the tournament proceeds further. Punjab Kings could only manage to score 106 for eight. CSK pacer Deepak Chahar tore through their top batting order, taking four for 13. The Mohali-based franchise was struggling at 26 for five at one stage after being put in to bat by MS Dhoni in Mumbai.

Deepak Chahar was the star performer for Chennai

Deepak Chahar bowled Mayank Agarwal in the fourth ball of the innings. The youngster then quickly picked up wickets of Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, and Deepak Hooda. Punjab then relied on middle-order batsman Shahrukh Khan who hit two sixes and four fours in his 36 balls 47. Talking about CSK’s batting unit, Rayudu has now joined the likes of Rohit Sharma, Parthiv Patel, Harbhajan Singh, and Ajinkya Rahane in the list of batters with the most number of IPL ducks (13).

After the win, CSK is now placed second in the league standings after two games. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are the only unbeaten side after two games each and are also leading the points table. Dhoni-led CSK will next play against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the same venue on Monday. On the other hand, Punjab Kings will travel to Chennai for their next IPL 2021 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
