MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful cricketers in international cricket in recent times. The man with the ‘Midas Touch’ changed the face of Indian cricket forever as he led the team to three major title victories during his tenure as the captain. Dhoni’s all major achievements were beautifully captured and recreated in his biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’. However, the former Indian captain wasn’t ready to show his story on screen for a long time.

Dhoni's business partner and the film's producer Arun Pandey revealed that it took a really long time for him to convince the legendary cricketer to make his biopic. "Initially, he used to ask, 'What is the need for this?' But once we convinced him, all he said was, 'Don't misrepresent me. Show me as I am,'" Pandey had said in a conversation with Times of India.

Pandey further revealed that convincing Dhoni took a lot of time and effort. He said, "It took us two years to convince him. This development didn't happen overnight, there had been discussions about it since the 2011 World Cup final. It wasn't easy."

In the end, it came down to a random conversation with a kid at the airport that inspired the ‘Captain-cool’ to give a nod to go ahead with his biopic.

"He was at an airport when a kid asked him a question on motivation. He sat down with him and spent a good five minutes answering the question. I was there and I asked him why he spent that much time. He replied, 'Because my answer will benefit him and motivate him’,” Pandey said.

"That's when I said to him, 'your story has the power to motivate millions of kids like him, and you cannot possibly spare five minutes for each of them.' That's what convinced him to say yes to the biopic,” he added.

Upon its release, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story turned out to be a huge success at the box office grossing over Rs 200 crore. Sushant Singh Rajput stole the show with his portrayal as the former Indian captain which also skyrocketed his career.
