Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper-batsman N Jagadeesan reckoned that the press utterly misunderstood MS Dhoni's spark comment. The 25-year-old stated that the remarks were not for the young players but to uplift the senior players in the team. MS Dhoni had stated that the CSK youngsters did not show enough spark for them to push the senior cricketers out of the team. However, the former had also confirmed that the younger players would be given a few chances in the upcoming games. After MS Dhoni's comment, the yellow army ended up winning three of their remaining four games in IPL 2020.

Youngsters were more focused on learning the mental aspects of the game from the seniors: N Jagadeesan

Further in the discussion, Jagadeesan pointed out the lessons he learned while plying his trade for the Chennai Super Kings. The youngster disclosed that they don't focus much on the technical aspects while playing for Chennai. They are more focused on looking at the senior cricketers and trying to learn the game's mental aspects from them. Jagadeesan had made his debut in the Indian Premier League last year. The young batsman played five matches for CSK. He stated that Dhoni was actually trying to boost the team and back up the seniors too. He also explained how the entire team did well as a unit after Dhoni's comments.

After MS Dhoni's comments, Gaikwad sparked a turnaround with the bat. He scored a hat-trick of fifties to help Chennai win their last three games on the trot. Nonetheless, the yellow army recorded their worst ever finish at the seventh spot with six victories from 14 matches. However, even though the team fell narrowly short of a playoff spot, Ruturaj Gaikwad impressed with three half-centuries on the trot as CSK won by eight, six, and nine wickets, respectively in their last three IPL games.

Jagadeesan and opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad were anticipated as CSK's next big thing in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings were having a great time in IPL 2021. The MS Dhoni-led side had 5 wins in 7 games before the BCCI indefinitely postponed the tournament. A sudden increase in cases among players and support staff of various franchises had led to the postponement of the tournament.
