Avesh Khan

Delhi Capitals pacer Avesh Khan stated that he had fulfilled his dream by scalping CSK skipper MS Dhoni's wicket. The young pacer knocked the stumps of the Chennai Super Kings' captain and sent him back to the pavilion for a 2-ball duck. Khan was more glorified because he finally got the wicket for the former Indian skipper after missing an opportunity in 2018. Avesh Khan was included in the playing XI senior pacer Umesh Yadav. Delhi Capitals were also without their star bowlers Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje for Delhi's first game of IPL 2021 against Chennai. Avesh Khan's recent form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Madhya Pradesh must have prompted new skipper Rishabh Pant to take that call. The youngster picked up 14 wickets in 5 matches.

The 24-year-old repaid the faith of the team management as he earlier dismissed Faf du Plessis. Du Plessis has been one of the most destructive batsmen for CSK in IPL 2020. He has scored 449 runs in 13 matches. Avesh Khan then provided Delhi with another big wicket as he bowled MS Dhoni with quick delivery. Under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals produced a memorable performance. They also recorded a 7-wicket win over the three-time IPL champions.

Capitals have the best fast bowling attack in the tournament: Avesh Khan

Batting first, the Yellow Army posted a challenging 188-run total onboard riding on some influential contributions from Suresh Raina (54 off 36), Moeen Ali (36 off 24), and Sam Curran (34 off 15) towards the end. Avesh Khan and Chris Woakes were the star bowlers for Delhi Capitals. The duo picked up two wickets apiece, whereas R Ashwin and Tom Curran picked one wicket.

In response, Shikhar Dhawan (85 off 54) and Prithvi Shaw (72 off 38) got Delhi off to a brilliant start. The opening duo formed a partnership of 138 runs for the opening wicket in 13.3 overs. CSK bowling unit had no answers to the attack from the two-opening batsman as the pair troubled the CSK's bowling unit. The Delhi-based franchise successfully chased down the total in 18.4 overs. Rishabh Pant and Co. will be playing against Rajasthan Royals in their next match in Mumbai on April 15.

Avesh Khan also talked about the fast-bowling resources which their side has. With Chris Woakes, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma already in their team, they also have Kagiso Rabada, who has taken more than 50 scalps in the last two seasons altogether. Anrich Nortje, too, was highly successful for the side last year.
