After surviving a serious car accident last year, star India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has started recovering from injuries. His progress has shocked everyone as he is recovering well faster than expected. This has also shocked Indian Cricket Board as they were expecting him to stay out of cricket till December 2023.
However, in a recent news report, it has been understood that Indian Cricket Board is trying to fast forward Pant's recovery to get him ready for the upcoming World Cup. Notably, India is set to host ODI World Cup this year in October-November and the team would like to get the services of players like Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah. Though ICB is trying hard to get Pant back on the field as soon as possible, his recovery might take some more time.
While skill work is still "quite some time away," Pant has been rising his lower-body and upper-body mobility exercises under the supervision of physio S Rajnikanth, who has worked before with several India age-group teams and has also been a member of the Delhi Capitals support staff.
Rajnikanth previously helped in the recovery of Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and M Vijay from major injuries. Another NCA physio, Thulasi Ram Yuvaraj, has been with Pant since he was airlifted to Mumbai days after the vehicle accident.
Jasprit Bumrah might make a comeback by Asia Cup 2023
According to the latest news report in ESPN Cricinfo, India pacer Jasprit Bumrah along with batter Shreyas Iyer is looking to make a comeback by Asia Cup 2023. India is set to face Pakistan and Nepal in the Group stage of Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka from August 31 this year. It has been reported that Bumrah and Iyer are looking to participate in the continental tournament. In March, Bumrah underwent surgery in New Zealand for a persistent back ailment. He hasn't played since the home T20Is against Australia in September of last year.
According to reports, Bumrah is primarily undergoing physiotherapy but has lately begun light bowling workloads that will gradually grow. Shreyas had to withdraw from the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Ahmedabad in March due to a bulging disc in his lower back. In May, he had surgery in London and is now undergoing physiotherapy.
Here is how fans react to ICB's plan to fast-track Rishabh Pant:
How is one person so important when we have a country with 1.5B people, so many under rated cricketers trying their luck despite over performing, not sure why Bumrah and Pant became so important when you could literally nourish a new cricket in the time being, sure shot politics.

Looks like BCCI is following the classic Indian parenting technique of "tension lene ka nahi, dene ka" with Rishabh Pant's injury. Hope it doesn't backfire on them in the long run!

no way he needs a full year of cricket to play a tournament like that

Don’t destroy his career @BCCI.
