Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans were crowned winners of the sixth season of the Pakistan Super League. Multan Sultans defeated Wahab Riaz's Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs to win their first PSL 2021 title. Half-centuries from Sohaib Maqsood and Rilee Rossouw helped them defend 206. Besides Imran Tahir's 3/33, Imran Khan and Blessing Muzarabani also picked up two wickets each. The duo did not allow the Zalmi innings to take off. In response, Peshawar Zalmi finished with 159/9. Only Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik performed for the side.

Sohail Maqsood was named Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series

Sohaib Maqsood scored an unbeaten 65 off 35 balls. This included six boundaries and three sixes. Rossouw also slammed a 21-ball 50, including five boundaries and three sixes.

Put to bat first, Multan Sultans had a great start as the opening duo of Rizwan, and Shan Masood added 68 runs for the first wicket. Young Peshawar speedster Mohammad Imran broke the partnership. The left-arm quick dismissed Masood for 37 runs with a slower delivery in the 9th over. The pacer returned in the 11th over and removed skipper Rizwan for 30. After Rizwan's dismissal, Maqsood and Rossouw paired up and kept the scoreboard ticking. The duo batted till the 19th over and formed a 98-run partnership for the third wicket. Sameen Gul struck in the second last over and dismissed Rossouw and Johnson Charles (0) on successive deliveries. But a couple of wickets didn't affect Multan Sultan's batting. Khushdil Shah slammed back-to-back sixes in the last over, whereas Maqsood hit a boundary to end the innings.

For Peshawar Zalmi, Rovman Powell and Malik tried to steady the innings with a 66-run stand, but the Multan bowlers were too tough to get away with. Imran Tahir dismissed Malik after he had played his 28-ball knock, hitting three boundaries and three sixes. Once he departed, the wheels simply came off. From 137/5, Peshawar Zalmi lost their next four wickets for 14 runs.

Sohail Maqsood was named as the Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series. On the other end, Shahnawaz Dahani was announced as the best bowler and best-emerging cricketer of the tournament. Mohammad Rizwan was also named as the best wicketkeeper of the tournament.
