Parthiv Patel has become the Talent Scout for IPL 2020 champions Mumbai Indians, just a day after declaring his retirement from all forms of cricket. Previously, the 35-year-old had plied his trade for Mumbai Indians. In IPL 2020, Patel was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.
In 2015, Mumbai Indians had signed Parthiv, and he stayed with them till 2017 for three seasons. Royal Challengers Bangalore had roped him in 2018. Before 2015, he had also played for IPL teams - Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and SunRisers Hyderabad
While declaring about his new role with the franchise, Parthiv Patel has mentioned that he had enjoyed playing cricket for Mumbai Indians. Those three years with the champion sides had been remarkable for him. After his retirement from cricket, he is turning a new chapter in his life. He is thankful to the Mumbai Indians management for giving him the opportunity. He is excited as well as confident about his new role.
Mumbai Indians hope Parthiv Patel will unearth talents for them
As he has played domestic cricket level for nearly two decades, Parthiv Patel has ample experience of it as well. He had also participated in IPL since its inaugural season in 2008.
In the meantime, the Mumbai Indians are hoping that their new Talent Scout will carry on with their talent of discovering big talents for the team. The former coach of India, John Wright, had played a similar role in the past for the franchise. The team credits John Wright for discovering Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the 2013 season.
Akash Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians, has shared his happiness at Parthiv Patel's new involvement with the team. He is expecting that the newly retired cricketer will boost the scouting system of the franchise with his cricketing experience.
