The defending champions of IPL 2020 have got a reason to rejoice. Their captain Rohit Sharma has resumed his training and hit the nets on Monday. As BCCI left him out from India’s squads for the upcoming tour of Australia, there were massive worries over Rohit Sharma’s participation in the rest of the ongoing IPL tournament.
On October 18, the batting pillar of Mumbai Indians had gotten a hamstring injury in the left leg during Mumbai Indians' Super Over defeat to Kings XI Punjab. On October 23 and 25, Rohit Sharma had to miss MI's next two games against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, respectively.
Rohit Sharma has recovered from his injury
Mumbai Indians said last Friday that Rohit Sharma had recovered, and the IPL team management is monitoring the recuperation cycle in consultancy with BCCI. The announcement didn't give any sign that Rohit’s injury was serious. However, the BCCI's choice to keep him out from the upcoming Australian tour stirred some rumor. On Monday, Mumbai Indians took to Instagram to post a picture of Rohit Sharma batting in the nets.
Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by ten wickets during the absence of Rohit Sharma, before Rajasthan Royals crushed them with an eight-wicket defeat. However, the defending champions are still leading the IPL 2020 points table with 7 victories from 11 matches.
Mumbai Indians are hoping to seal their position in the top two spots of the IPL points table. It will give them two opportunities of making it to the final and defend their title.
