'My best is yet to come': Virat Kohli after Bangalore retains him for three seasons

India Test and ODI skipper Virat Kohli has said that there were no second thoughts of staying with Bangalore in the Indian T20 League. On Tuesday (November 30), Bangalore retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj for three seasons. The former skipper has been an integral part of the franchise right since the inception of the league. After his stupendous success in the under- 19 World Cup, Kohli was brought by Bangalore during the 2008 auctions.

It has been some journey for the right-hand batter during 14 years of the Indian T20 League. Kohli has seen a lot of ups and down, evolved as a player, and has gone on to become a legendry cricketer. In several of his interviews, Kohli has vouched that he wishes to play only for Bangalore. Now, he has been signed for three years more years. Kohli said that his best is yet to come for Bangalore. “The journey continues, I have been retained by Bangalore. When I was contacted, did not have any second thoughts at all. It has been an amazing journey over the years, three more years with the franchise that means so much to me. I believe the best is yet to come and I have a special feeling about what is to come next season onwards,” said Kohli in a video posted on the official YouTube channel of the franchise.

Bangalore are yet to win a trophy in the 14 years of the Indian T20 League but their fans are one of the most passionate and loyal. They have remained through thick and thin with the franchise. Kohli said the fans have been amazing with him and all the players for several years. He also said that fans will see a different version of him when he plays for Bangalore in the next season.

“Our fan base is amazing, management has been amazing with me and all other players. Renewed energy and a different version of me on the field. But I will be there with my heart and soul for RCB,” he added.
