Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest to ever grace the football pitch has set his sights on Euro 2024. The 37-year-old, despite reaching an age which is considered old for highest level football, continues to play at the top level.
While many rumours about the Manchester United player’s retirement surface from time to time, the number seven has squashed all the doubts. After receiving a trophy at the Portuguese football federation (FPF) Quinas de Ouro awards in Lisbon, Ronaldo said, “My journey is not over yet, you’re going to have to put up with ‘Cris’ for a while longer.”
Ronaldo received this award for being the top national team scorer of all time. He continued, “It has been a long road, but I would like to take the opportunity to say that my road is not over yet. I feel motivated, my ambition is high. I am in the Selection with a lot of young players and I want to be part of this World Cup and the 2024 Euro as well, I assume now.”
Ronaldo has had a tough time at Manchester United upon his return to his former club. The Portuguese had shown a desire to play for a Champions League team but none of the clubs came to his calling. The 37-year-old had to make do with Manchester United and is currently playing in the Europa League, his first-ever campaign at the UEFA’s lower division competition.
