In a recent piece of news for Indian cricket fans, the Indian Cricket Board has come up with an update on the return of senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah to international cricket. A PTI report has understood that the Board is confident of having Bumrah’s present in the national side of India during the much anticipated ODI World Cup of 2023.

“The cricket board is confident that the ace fast bowler Bumrah will be fit in time for the World Cup 2023,” said an Indian Cricket Board source to PTI.

“The board will continue with its policy of not allowing any active Indian players to take part in various other T20 leagues around the world, including the proposed T20 league in Saudi Arabia. However, the franchises can have their presence as they have made in other competitions such as SA20 and International League T20,” the source adds further.

Subsequently, this new media report on Bumrah’s comeback has also come as an opportunity for Indian cricket fans to troll him brutally on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Fans also went on to question if the Ahmedabad pacer could continue after 1 or 2 matches in World Cup or not.

Notably, Bumrah was in recovery and underwent surgery for his back injury in New Zealand during the last month of March. He is not in the action with the national side of India at the highest level of the game since the Asia Cup 2022. Later on, he went on miss some big international assignments for India including the likes of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

Speaking of Bumrah’s ODI career considering his possibilities for the World Cup 2023, he has played 73 matches so far to scalp 121 wickets with a very effective economy rate of 4.63. He also has a best bowling figure of 6/19.
