Chennai skipper MS Dhoni has come up with a hard and fast-lined warning for his bowlers after a close win of 12 runs against Lucknow in their second match of the tournament. Notably, the hosts’ bowlers happened to bowl a lot of no-balls and wide balls in the high-scoring affair against Lucknow.

Although the four-time champions Chennai managed to win the match against Lucknow by 12 runs to register their first win in the tournament. But still, Dhoni didn’t look happy with the performance of the bowlers and also gave a big threat of leaving captaincy.

“They'll have to bowl no no balls and fewer wides. We are bowling too many extra deliveries and need to cut them out otherwise they'll be playing under a new captain,” said Dhoni during the post-match presentation.

"It was a terrific game, a high-scoring game. All of us were thinking about how the wicket will be. We had that doubt. It was a high-scoring game. Overall I think it was a perfect first game that happened and it was a full house for the first game in 5 or 6 years since we've been here. I thought it will be much slower. It was a wicket where you could score runs but overall it got a bit slower,” he added later.

Here's what MS Dhoni said further

While summing up his remarks, Dhoni also talked about the potential performance of his team in the next couple of matches in the tournament. He felt a need for improvement in the bowling department to win and create a difference in the crucial matches against the big teams in the tournament.

“We'll have to see how it plays over the next six games at home but hopefully we can score here. It's the fast bowling that will need to slightly improve and bowl according to the conditions. Even if it's on the flatter side, force batters to hit over the fielders,” the 41-year-old concluded.

Notably, Dhoni also entertained the fans with two consecutive sixes off Mark Wood in the last over of the match; which later happened to win the match by 12 runs to win the match for Chennai.
