The final match of the T20I series between India and South Africa ended on a disappointing note. The match played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was washed off due to rain that caused a lot of interruptions. The game was first delayed, but a prolonged stoppage later caused it to be abandoned. The trophy of the five-match series was shared between the hosts and the visitors.
However, this was not the only factor that enraged the fans. During the rain delay, a viral video circulated on the Internet showing Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad disrespecting a groundsman by refusing him a selfie in the dugout area. In the video, a groundsman can be seen approaching Gaikwad for a selfie, but the cricketer asked him to maintain distance.
The gesture did not go down well for the emerging player as he was criticized on the internet. Many users on Twitter suggested that they did not expect him to do so, while others wondered if he did this keeping the Covid protocols in mind.
As for the match, South Africa stand-in captain Keshav Maharaj won the toss and chose to bowl first after Temba Bavuma was ruled out with an elbow injury in the fourth T20I. The Proteas made a handful of changes to their Playing XI. Reeza Hendricks replaced Bavuma at the top, while Tabraiz Shamsi and Marco Jansen were replaced by Tristan Stubbs and Kagiso Rabada.
Only 21 balls were bowled throughout the match, which did not go well for the men in blue. India managed 28 runs on the board, but lost two wickets in the process. Lungi Ngidi struck the wicket of both the Indian openers. Ishan Kishan scored 15 runs in seven balls, while Gaikwad scored 10 runs in 12 balls.
Meanwhile, an angry fan tweeted saying, "Is this the way how you behave to elder person #RuturajGaikwad this is Very bad and disrespectful gesture. Sad to see these groundsmen getting treated like this."

Dear @Ruutu1331 , attitude & character is more important than skills & performance.
With ur current attitude U will never reach places.
Players like #Sachin #Dhoni #Kohli are legends, not because of their skills alone.
Learn to respect fellow humans..!#RuturajGaikwad #INDvSA pic.twitter.com/DUOHi4JjtP— KjK (@StealthModeUser) June 20, 2022
First learn how to respect ground staff

#RuturajGaikwad shocking behaviour lost all the respect he has earned the last couple of years. Knowledge, skills and attitude three 3 key important elements for the success. If the attitude is wrong everythingelse goes for toss

We all should condemn this gesture of @Ruutu1331
