Chennai vs Mumbai is considered the "El Classico" of the Indian T20 league for a reason. Owing to the achievements of both the teams, watching them clash against each other always generates a lot of buzz. Hence, the stakes during these games are really high.

It is to be noted that these two teams always have a lot of stalwarts on either side. Thus, Mukesh Choudhary's performance against the five-time champions on Thursday was one to remember. His superb spell during the first innings played an influential role in ensuring that Chennai win their second match of this edition.

In the three overs in which he bowled, Mukesh took three wickets, and only gave 19 runs. This enabled him to win the player of the match award as well. During the post-match presentation, the pacer drew light on his journey as a cricketer, and stated that he used to play all kinds of sports.

“I never thought I’d play cricket. Was at boarding school in Pune, we had an hour’s sports period and I used to play all kinds of sports there. Tried playing cricket and seemed to be good at it,” said Mukesh Choudhary. Further on, he spoke about bowling in the powerplay overs.

“Have to bowl well in the powerplay where I’m supposed to bowl three overs. There is no pressure actually, to play with such big players around you automatically takes all the pressure away. I just want to have a good time and enjoy myself,” he added.

Earlier, Mukesh's selection had raised a lot of eyebrows. Prior to the game against Mumbai, he had only taken four wickets in his first five games of the Indian T20 league 2022. As for Chennai, they have now won two out of their first seven matches of the Indian T20 league 2022. It will be exciting to see if they can miraculously make it to the playoffs this time around as well.
