'Next match me duck'- Fans react as Virat Kohli heaps praise on Shubman Gill via Instagram story after latter's maiden ton in IPL

Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill continued his sparkling form in the Indian Premier League as he smashed his maiden ton in the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday at Narendra Modi Stadium. Gill has a terrific record at Narendra Modi Stadium. Prior to the knock, he had already smashed three half-centuries at this very ground this season.

He missed out on a hundred against Lucknow Super Giants on 7th May by just 6 runs. However, on Monday, he did manage to reach the three-digit mark and registered his name in the record books.
Gill brought up his ton in just 56 balls against SRH on Monday and, with that, he became the first player from the team to do so. His opener partner, W Saha departed in the very first over of the innings, however, Gill didn’t allow the opposition to pile more pressure on them.

He smacked boundaries regularly and helped the team make a racing start in the powerplay. Gill raced away to 36 runs in just 16 deliveries after he had smashed four consecutive fours to Farooqi in one over.

Gill and Sai Sudharsan added 100-run partnership for the third wicket and laid a solid foundation for a big finish. The former reached his half-century in just 22 balls and also went past 500-run mark this season. The 23-year-old played a sensational knock of 101 runs in just 58 deliveries, a knock which was studded with 13 fours and 1 six.

However, once Sai Sudharshan departed, Gujarat lost wickets in quick succession and failed to finish well, restricting themselves to just 188 runs. But it proved more than enough as SRH, in reply, fell 34 runs short of the target.

Former Indian skipper and batting stalwart, Virat Kohli took to his Instagram handle and uploaded a story for Shubman Gill.
