In a recent piece of news, star Brazil international Neymar is set to join the Al Hilal club of Saudi Pro League. The side is known as the arch-rival of Al-Nassr, the club for which centre-forward Cristiano Ronaldo plays. Notably, Neymar’s contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain was supposed to end on the 30th of June 2025 but it has been ended midway.
A report in the French daily L’equipe reported that “Neymar has agreed with Al-Hilal on a two-year contract, PSG and the Saudi club are discussing the terms of the transfer of the Brazilian striker.” The same media report suggested that he will earn 160 million euros at the club after the end of his six-year stint with PSG.
Neymar's six-year stint with PSG ends midway
He was approached by PSG in 2017 after leaving Barcelona in a mammoth transfer earning 222 million euros. Since then, he has appeared in 112 matches for PSG, aggregating 82 goals to his name.
Apart from Neymar, one of the well-known names that left PSG was the legendary Argentine skipper, Lionel Messi; PSG’s contract with Messi ended earlier this year. The trio of Neymar, Messi, and French star Kylian Mbappe was considered as the backbone of the PSG lineup. But as of now, the French club has already lost two stars from the three. On the other hand, they are also in trouble to keep their terms smooth and continue with Kylian Mbappe.
If the Brazilian international goes on board with Al-Hilal, it will be one of the highest amounts earned for a transfer in the Saudi Pro League. This trend of high-amount signings in the Saudi League started when Al-Nassr FC approached the Portuguese international and star Manchester United centre-forward, Cristiano Ronaldo.
As for the World Champion skipper, Lionel Messi, he has now moved on to Major League Soccer in the United States of America.
