Pakistani cricketer Nida Dar has now become the first Pakistan bowler to pick up 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game. The veteran achieved the feat during Pakistan’s first T20I game against West Indies Women at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua. Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi is second on the elite list with 98 wickets from 99 games.

Nida Dar is also the fifth women’s cricketer to grab 100 T20I wickets after Anisa Mohammed, Ellyse Perry, Shabnim Ismail, and Anya Shrubsole. Anisa Mohammed was also a part of the first match on Wednesday. She is currently the leading wicket-taker with 120 wickets from 112 games. Nida Dar has also joined Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga as the second Asian cricketer to pick 100 wickets.

Pakistan lost the match against West Indies by 10 runs

Nida Dar was brilliant with the ball in the first match against West Indies. She was the star bowler for the Pakistan team as she got the crucial wickets of Deandra Dottin and Stafanie Taylor. In the first match, Deandra Dottin looked gloomy after she scored 31 runs off 26 delivers. Her knock included two boundaries and as many sixes at a strike rate of 119.23.

Nida Dar was also the most economical bowler for her team. The 34-year-old gave away 15 runs in four overs at an economy rate of 3.75. With the bat, she slammed two fours before Shamilia Connell dismissed her. Nida Dar’s overall efforts went in vain as Pakistan lost the match against WI by 10 runs.

After being put in to bat first, West Indies could manage to score only 136 in 20 overs. The West Indies team had a positive start as Dottin and Hayley Matthews got into their 30s. Cameos from Kyshona Knight, Kycia Knight, and Chedean Nation carried the home team to a decent score. In the run-chase, the Pakistan cricket team was reduced to 57 for six in the 13th over. The visitors required 80 runs off 45 balls. Ayesha Naseem’s 33-ball 45 and Fatima Sana’s 21-ball 24 took Pakistan close to the target. However, their knocks were not enough for Pakistan to win the match.
