The Perth Scorchers moved to the second position on the points table after beating Adelaide Strikers by 3 wickets on Monday. The Scorchers put in a brilliant performance against the table-toppers and secured their second consecutive win in the tournament.

The Scorchers restricted Adelaide Strikers to 133 runs in the first innings. Behrendorff sent Henry Hunt on the very first ball he faced. Short and Lynn denied the Scorchers of picking any further wickets in the power play.

Ashton Agar came to the rescue as he rattled the stumps of Short (16 off 26), in the 8th over, who wasn’t looking good with the bat. Runs were hard to come by, thanks to some disciplined bowling from the Scorchers.

Lynn was looking to play a big knock but Behrendorff ran him out in the 12th over. The likes of Adam Hose (18), Colin de Grandhomme (19), and Thomas Kelly (18) got starts but couldn’t convert that into big scores. As a result, the Strikers were restricted to a below-par score.

Andrew Tye was the pick of the bowlers for the Scorchers, claiming 3 for 30 in 4 overs. Josh Inglis and Co. didn’t make a great start with the bat either. The likes of Faf du Plessis (6), Adam Lyth (4), and Nick Hobson (4) got out on single-digit scores.

Perth Scorchers had lost three wickets for just 17 runs on the board inside the first three overs. Josh Inglis (19) and Aaron Hardie (22) took the scoreboard ahead with a 31-run partnership before Manenti got Josh Inglish out in the 5th over. Scorchers had lost four wickets despite scoring 48 runs in the first five overs.

Aaron Hardie’s 17-ball 22 also came to an end in the 9th over but it was Ashton Turner, who came to the team’s rescue. Turner played an unbeaten knock of 48 runs in just 38 deliveries to guide the team home with five balls remaining.

Fans have been mighty impressed with Scorchers’ performance and, in particular, Ashton Turner. Here’s a look at some of the reactions from the fans following the victory:
