Australia's ace off-spinner Nathan Lyon has reckoned that he won't be watching the much-anticipated WTC finals. The ICC World Test Championship will be played between India and New Zealand, on June 18 in Southampton. The final was supposed to take place in Lord's, but was shifted to the Rose Bowl in Southampton owing to COVID-19 restrictions. It will be played from June 18-22, with 23 being a reserve day.

India defeated Australia 2-1 down under earlier this year, which helped them qualify for the final. Nathan Lyon played his 100th Test during that series, but his overall performance was far from good.

India is the best side in the world: Nathan Lyon

India is currently leading the tournament's table with 72.2% points, while New Zealand is second with 70.0%. Despite winning one game more than New Zealand, Australia missed the second spot by just 0.8%.

Nathan Lyon stated that he would not be watching the ICC WTC final match. He also called the Indian cricket team the best side in the world. However, he argued that if the game is played with the Dukes ball, New Zealand will have a better chance to grab the trophy.

In India, the SG ball is used, whereas the Duke ball is utilized in England and West Indies. In places like Australia and New Zealand, a Kookaburra ball is mainly used. The Duke ball has a more profound seam as it is hand-stitched. It also allows the ball to seam around a bit more than regular balls. However, the ICC has not yet officially announced what ball will be used for the WTC final.
