Chennai beat Delhi by 91 runs in a one-sided affair in the 55th match of the Indian T20 League. Devon Conway did the job with the bat to set a massive total, and Mukesh Choudhary and Moeen Ali bowled brilliantly in the game that always kept Delhi under control.

At the DY Patil Stadium, Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl first. The men in yellow got off to a flying start, with Devon Conway scoring early on. Ruturaj Gaikwad, his opening partner, provided him with the necessary assistance. They kept scoring at a good rate and reached 57 runs in the powerplay. Devon Conway scored his third half-century in a row, and the duo added 110 runs in the opening partnership in  11 overs. Anrich Nortje got the breakthrough wicket of Gaikwad (41).

After the first wicket, Shivam Dube and Conway slowed down, but they looked comfortable on a slowish wicket. Coway (87) and Dube (32) were dismissed by the team Chennai reached a total of 170/3 in 17.1 overs. In the end, MS Dhoni played a perfect cameo of 21 runs in eight balls to help Chennai reach a total of 208 in the first innings. Anrich Nortje had three wickets, Khaleel Ahmed had two, and Mitchell Marsh had one in the game.

Delhi did not get off to the best possible start in the chase. While chasing the massive total, they required solid partnerships, which they did not get. They lost wickets at frequent intervals, thereby eliminating their prospects of winning the game. Srikar Bharat (eight) and David Warner (19) were both dismissed during the powerplay. The men in blue and red managed 59 runs in the powerplay.

The middle overs were not good for the team either. Moeen Ali used the sluggish track to his advantage, taking three wickets in the match. Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh were also at the top of their game as they took two wickets each. Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Ripal Patel all struggled in the crucial stage. The tail tried to stick around, but the brilliance of Chennai bowlers did not allow them to do much. The highest scorer for the Delhi team was Mitchell Marsh (25).

Dwayne Bravo took two wickets in the 18th over and bowled out Delhi for 117 runs. With this win, MS Dhoni's Chennai moved to the eighth position in the points table to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
