The Indian batting sensation and World No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has been struggling to decode the ODI format for a long time. He has consistently proved his mettle in the shortest format, but unfortunately, failed to reciprocate the same in the 50-over cricket. The fans and a few experts of the game have also questioned the mindset of Indian team management behind backing Suryakumar out of the way.

Recently, the man himself spoke about his bad patch in ODI cricket. SKY said that he is going to crack the ODI format as soon as possible. Notably, the Mumbai batter has struggled a lot in ODI format of late. Since his ODI debut in 2021, SKY has played 26 ODIs and scored only 511 runs with a below-par average of 24.33, including two half-centuries.

“I am hoping that I can crack the ODI format soon, I have been talking with Rahul sir, Rohit, and Virat a lot about getting better in the ODI,” said Suryakumar Yadav on Star Sports.

Notably, the 32-year-old has also been included and given another chance in the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, starting from Wednesday, August 30. He might get a chance to play in the middle order of the Indian batting lineup during the continental championship.

Here’s a look at the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya (VC), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna.

The selectors announced the 17-men squad of Team India on Monday, August 21; apart from Suryakumar Yadav getting another chance, the fans were relieved to know about the comeback of star middle-order batters, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Both of them are making a return to the Indian squad after a long break due to the respective injuries, they sustained earlier this year.
