India will be facing New Zealand in the first semifinal of the ODI World Cup 2023 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match between the two teams is expected to provide a thrilling contest, as they have been involved in such matches in the past. The two sides met each other in the Semifinal of the ODI World Cup 2019 as well, where New Zealand defeated India by 18 runs.
On the other hand, South Africa will be taking on Australia in the second semifinal of the tournament at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In front of more than 65000 people, the two teams will be battling it out for a spot in the final. The last time these two sides met in a Knockout match, Australia overcame South Africa in the semifinal of the ODI World Cup 2007 in the West Indies.
In 2023, a lot has changed. All 4 teams have their strengths and weaknesses. But the contest between them is expected to light up the tournament. There is no rain forecast for both matches. But in case rain interrupts these matches, a reserve day has already been announced for these matches. All the teams would be looking forward to winning the game against their opponents.
Scenarios in case of rain interruption for semifinal
India and New Zealand will be playing on the 15th of November. If the rain-affected their play on the day, the match would be continued on the 16th of November. If rain affected their play even on the reserve day, then India would qualify for the final, as they finished the group stage of the tournament with a higher spot in the points table, as compared to the Kiwis.
Australia and South Africa will be taking on each other on the 16th of November. If the day gets affected by rain, the match will be resumed on the 17th of November. If rain does not allow the match to happen even on the reserve day, then South Africa would qualify for the final, as they finished the points table higher than Australia did.
Here's how the fans reacted to the scenarios:
Brother, according to the rules of ICC, this should not happen because ICC has also kept a reserved day, this cannot happen.
