The Indian Cricket Team is set to play its fifth game of the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. New Zealand will be the next opponent for the Indians and the game is set to be played in Dharamshala. Ahead of the game, it can be confirmed that Hardik Pandya is set to miss the key clash.

Both the teams have played four games and enjoy a 100% record with 8 points so far. A win for either side will make that team the firm favorites to reach the semi-finals. The last time these two teams met in the World Cup was in the 2019 Semi-final clash in Manchester.

New Zealand with a better run rate occupies the top of the table with India closely following at number two. It is widely expected that Tom Latham and his side will be playing the same team that won against Afghanistan.

Mohammad Shami and Suryakumar Yadav set for a recall to Indian team

Veteran fast bowler Mohammad Shami is set to replace Shardul Thakur in the Indian playing XI. The 33-year-old hasn’t played for India during the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign so far.

Shardul Thakur has been expensive with the ball in each of the games he has played for India so far. The 32-year-old has been criticized by former cricketers and fans for his lackluster performances during the ODI World Cup tournament.

Mohammad Shami is set to play on Sunday in Dharamshala and this will be his third ODI World Cup tournament. The right-arm pace bowler famously picked a hat-trick during the 2019 ODI World Cup game against Afghanistan.

Hardik Pandya is set to miss the game on Sunday against New Zealand in Dharamshala. The 30-year-old had hurt his foot while attempting to stop a Litton Das straight drive on Thursday in Pune. The Indian all-rounder left the field and after multiple scans, the decision to rest the 30-year-old was taken.

Suryakumar Yadav will be making his ODI World Cup debut in Dharamshala on Sunday. The 33-year-old was in good form during the ODI series against Australia before the start of the World Cup.

Many fans have been voicing their opinions where they have named Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishan Kishan as the best replacements. The Kiwis possess a lot of left-handers in the top order making Ashwin an ideal candidate. Ishan Kishan on the other hand scored an attacking 47 against Afghanistan before being replaced by Shubman Gill.
