The 29th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament between India and England is being played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in what is a crucial game for both teams. Ahead of the game, the Indian players were seen wearing the black Arm-Bands to give tribute to former Indian legend Bishan Singh Bedi.
Known to be one of the best left-arm spinners of his generation, Bishan Singh Bedi had passed away recently. In a career spanning over a decade for the national side, Bishan Singh Bedi picked 266 wickets.
England came into the game after losing four games in succession and were placed at the bottom of the table. Jos Buttler and his side needed a win to stay alive in the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. India on the other hand came into the game without losing a game during the ongoing campaign.
India’s moving tribute for Bishan Singh Bedi –
As the two teams came out for the national anthems, the Indian team could be seen wearing black armbands. The moving gesture was for Bishan Singh Bedi who passed away at the age of 77.
After his retirement from the game, Bishan Singh Bedi took over coaching and was known to be a known critic of the modern game. Many of the former and current-day players paid their respects to the Indian legend who passed away.
Intikhab Alam the former Pakistani player also paid his respects. Alam had given a moving statement which how much he was hurt by the passing of Bishan Singh Bedi. The Pakistani former player also remembers how he had met the Indian great last year during a pilgrimage.
Not just India and Pakistan cricketers but some of the great players from that era also sent their condolences. The Indian cricket fraternity has bid adieu to one of its most loyal and famous servants with a heavy heart.
