After a record-breaking innings, cricketing fervour praised Kohli for his amazing batting performances. However, Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis shockingly refused to do the same. While asked about Kohli's record-breaking innings and his reaction to them, Mendis said, "Why would I congratulate him?" The video soon went viral on social media, as fans gave it a mixed reaction.

On the eve of a do-or-die game against Bangladesh, the Sri Lanka skipper was addressing a press conference in Delhi. Amid the presser, a reporter informed Mendis that Kohli had completed his 49th ton and that he had a message for him. In response with a cheeky smile, Mendis said, "Why would I congratulate him?"
