Some of the biggest teams in the world like India, Australia, and New Zealand have beaten their opponents comprehensively by over 275 runs in the history of ODIs.

Australia registered the biggest margin of victory by runs in the history of the ODI World Cup. Against Netherlands, Australia won by 309 runs, which is one of the fewest instances of a team beating their opponents by over 300 runs in ODIs. Glenn Maxwell and David Warner scored hundred for Australia. Only four teams in ODIs have won by a margin of 275 or more runs in ODIs. Here are the teams which have the record for the biggest victory in ODIs in terms of runs. 

317 runs by IND against Sri Lanka, Trivandrum 2023

India overcame Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 317 runs earlier this year in Trivandrum. Batting first, India put on a mammoth total on the board. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli scored hundred for India. Replying to it, Sri Lanka played a catch up game and never looked to make an impact. In the process, Sri Lanka was hammered by India by a massive margin, which remains the record in ODIs to date.

309 runs by Australia against Netherlands, Delhi 2023

Australia defeated Netherlands by 309 runs in Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. Opting to bat first on a flat deck, Australia posted a huge score of 399 runs. David Warner scored his 22nd international ton and Glenn Maxwell smashed the fastest ODI World Cup hundred. With the ball, Adam Zampa shined by claiming 4 wickets, which led to Australia's biggest victory in ODIs. It is the biggest win for a team in the history of ODI World Cup. 


304 runs by Zimbabwe against United States of America, Harare 2023

Zimbabwe overcame the USA earlier this year in Harare in the ODI World Cup qualifiers. Batting first, Zimbabwe scored a huge total on the board, thanks to a big hundred from Sean Williams. The captain's knock led the way for Zimbabwe, who were all over the USA. The scoreboard pressure got the better of USA, as they lost the match by a big margin of 304 runs. 


290 runs by New Zealand against Ireland, Aberdeen 2008

New Zealand held the record for the biggest win in the history of ODIs in terms of runs for a long time. Batting first on a good surface, New Zealand posted a mammoth total, which was out of reach for Ireland. The chase was never on, as New Zealand overcame Ireland by a huge margin of 290 runs, For 15 years, it remained the biggest win for a team in ODIs, and still remains the biggest win for the Kiwis in ODIs. 


275 runs by Australia against Afghanistan, Perth 2015 

Australia owned Afghanistan in a one-sided contest. In the 2015 ODI World Cup, Australia scored a mammoth total of 417 runs in Perth, which reamisn the second highest total by a team in the World Cup. Chasing the target, Afghanistani batters fell like a pack of cards. In the process, Australia registered a huge win of 275 runs, which is the second highest in the history of ODI World Cup.
