Australia's opening batter David Warner helped the groundsman as the rain delayed the ongoing Sri Lanka vs Australia game in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. In the game, the Lankan Lions won the toss and elected to bat first. The team had a great start with Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera putting together 125 runs in 21.4 overs.

After this partnership was broken with the wicket of the former as he got out trying to play a hook shot, the 1996 winners lost two more wickets in a hurry. However, after a short while, the rain started coming down slowly and the umpires took the players off. While the groundsmen were bringing in covers, Warner also helped one of them.

Sri Lanka bowled out for 209 runs against Australia

Meanwhile, the rain delay wasn't much good for the Blue Brigade. Apparently, after the forced break, the five-time winners pulled back and they bowled out Lankans for 209. After having a great start, once again, the Asian side had a collapse, like they had against Pakistan last week. Meanwhile, from 125/0, the team has been bowled out for 209 runs.

Adam Zampa, who has been struggling with the ball since getting hit by Rassie van der Dussen, took four wickets and may have gotten some form. Apart from him, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took two wickets each and Glenn Maxwell took one. After the rain, the pitch looks a bit fresh and the Aussies are the favorite to win their first game of the tournament.
