SEN Cricket picked their team of the group stage of the ODI World Cup 2023. The team was made based on the performances of the players in the group stage of the tournament. The team had the likes of Quinton De Kock and David Warner as the openers. Quinton De Kock was named the wicketkeeper of the side as well. At number 3, they got Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand.
At number 4, SEN cricket got Virat Kohli, who was also named the captain of the side. To follow the great cricketer was his fellow teammate, Shreyas Iyer, who has played some brilliant knocks in the tournament till now. At number 6, Glenn Maxwell was picked as the first finisher in the side. To follow him was Ravindra Jadeja, who has been sensational in the tournament as an All-rounder.
They picked four different kinds of bowlers. Marco Jansen, the left-arm pacer who could swing the ball, was picked in the team as a main pacer. Japsrit Bumrah was picked as one of the main pacers, who could handle the death overs. Mohammed Shami also made it to the team with some brilliant performances to his name. Adam Zampa was the genuine spinner in the team, who could play a key role in the middle overs.
Rohit Sharma misses out in the team group stage
Much like Cricket Australia, which picked David Warner over Rohit Sharma, SEN Cricket also picked David Warner over Rohit Sharma. Despite having more runs, a better average, a better strike rate, and more boundaries than Warner, the Indian captain was not picked by the selectors in their team on the group stage of the tournament.
In the absence of Rohit, Virat was named the captain of the team, who has not captained the Indian team in the tournament. The side has good players, who have performed well in the tournament till now. But to remove one of the best batters in the tournament, who also happens to be the best captain of the tournament, has not gone well with the fans.
