Old video of Ramiz Raja fearing Pakistan Cricket Board’s collapse without India’s support goes viral

Currently, both India and Pakistan are preparing for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Both teams will face each other in their opener in the tournament. However, the cricket boards of these countries were in the headlines regarding the Asia Cup 2023. Initially, there were reports that the Indian Cricket Board can send the team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.

But, on 18 October, Jay Shah dismissed that by saying that the tournament will happen in a neutral venue. Due to political reasons, both teams are not allowed to visit each other’s country. After that, reports came out that Pakistan might pull itself out of the upcoming 50-over World Cup in India. But, now an old video went viral where Ramiz Raja had the fear of his board getting collapsed without the help of the Indian Board.

“Indian market contributes 90 percent to that governing body of cricket funds” - Ramiz Raja on Indian Cricket Board’s impact on world cricket

Speaking of the video, Ramiz Raja said: “Pakistan Cricket Board runs 50 percent on the governing body of cricket funds. The governing body of cricket funding is such that they organise tournaments and they distribute the money among their member boards. And Indian market contributes 90 percent to the governing body of cricket funds. 

“So Indian business houses are running Pakistan cricket and if tomorrow the Indian Prime Minister decides he will not allow any funding to Pakistan, this cricket board can collapse.” the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board added.

Speaking about India’s decision regarding Asia Cup 2023, Jay Shah said: “The Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue. I am saying this as ACC President. We can't go there , they can't come here. In the past also, Asia Cup has been played at a neutral venue." Meanwhile, the whole incident has ignited several views among the fans. However, fans will be eagerly waiting for the upcoming clash between India and Pakistan in Melbourne on 23 October 2022.
