Oman are one of the eight teams that will play the Qualifiers of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, set to be held from October 17 in Oman. In a bid to prepare themselves for the qualifiers, Oman has invited Ranji Trophy giants Mumbai for a short limited-overs series.  If reports are anything to go by, then Duleep Mendis Oman’s chief development officer has invited Mumbai to play three ODIs and three T20Is, ahead of the T20 World Cup. Mendis has written a formal letter for the same and is hoping for a positive response from the domestic giants.

“On behalf of Oman Cricket, we would like to invite the Mumbai Cricket Team to play matches against Oman’s national cricket team. As we understand that both teams are currently preparing for the upcoming season, it will be an excellent opportunity for the players to get some quality practice just before the commencement of the season,” states the letter written by Mendis as per Malaysia Sun.

Currently, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) are working on the details and trying to co-operate by playing the limited-overs series in Oman. “We have been invited for the tour between August 19-September 3. The details of the tour to Oman are still working out,” the source pointed.

According to the proposal, the Mumbai team will leave for Muscat on August 19 before undergoing quarantine on August 20. The team will be allowed to train from August 21. The three T20s are scheduled for August 22, 24, and 26, followed by the three 50 over games on August 29, 31, and September 2.
