One ex-player teams wish they had not released ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022

Here is a list of players that each team regrets releasing from the squad ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022.

The Indian T20 League 2022 has been a big success so far which some thrilling action halfway into the tournament. Ahead of the tournament, every team's squad saw significant changes due to the new retention policy and mega auction. Teams were allowed only a handful of retentions going into the mega auction. The auction dynamics then completely changed the structure of all the teams. With the new setup, some teams have performed well in the season, while the others have struggled to find their rhythm. Some players who were not retained by their franchises are doing exceptionally well for the new teams. Here is one player from each franchise teams are regretting to release.

Kolkata- Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has been a sensation for the Delhi team in the tournament this season. However, his former team Kolkata did not use him well in the previous seasons. He did not play any game for them last season and only played five games the year before. With his new team, Yadav has already taken 17 wickets in eight games. Interestingly, he has taken two four-wicket hauls this season and both have come against Kolkata.

Punjab- KL Rahul

The former captain of the Punjab team, KL Rahul, parted ways with the team ahead of the 2022 season. He was then roped in by the newly formed Lucknow team as their captain. Since then, KL Rahul has led the team from the front. He has scored 368 runs in eight matches this season and is currently the second-highest run-scorer. He also has scored two centuries this season, both of which have come against Mumbai.

Bangalore- Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was one of the most important players for the Bangalore team until last season. However, he was released by them ahead of the 2022 season. The Rajasthan team then got their hands on the leg spinner. This purchase has proved to be a great one for the men in pink and blue. Chahal is currently the highest wicket-taker of the season, with 18 wickets after eight games. He also has been very economical, conceding just 7.09 runs per over.

Delhi- Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav is another player who did not play a game in the previous edition of the tournament. Released by Delhi, Yadav was bagged in by Kolkata. He was trusted by the team to star in the playing XI from the first match. The 34-year old has given them the returns by taking 14 wickets in the season. He has bowled tight lines and lengths that have put the batters under pressure early on in the innings.

Mumbai- Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya spent his whole tenure in the tournament with Mumbai until 2021. He was always a valuable member of the team but his final season with them was not his finest. As a result of his release by Mumbai, he was selected in the draft by the newly established Gujarat team. He was appointed as the captain. The role has suited him well. Pandya has scored 305 runs at an average of 61 in seven matches thus far. He is the team's leading run-scorer this season.

Hyderabad- David Warner

David Warner was released from Hyderabad at the end of the 2021 season owing to conflicts with the team's administration. The Delhi team then purchased him for the 2022 season. Warner has been very good so far in the tournament. In his six matches this season, he has scored 261 runs at an average of 52.2. He has scored with a strike rate of 158.18. The Australian opener has scored three half-centuries already.

Rajasthan- Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube was a part of the Rajasthan team for the 2021 season. However, he did not give the best performances with the bat and was released by the franchise. The Chennai team picked the all-rounder in the mega auction for the 2022 season. This turned out to be a fantastic chance for him. Dube replayed the faith shown by the yellow army with some sizzling performances. He has scored 247 runs for the men in yellow in the eight matches so far, at an average of 35.29 and a strike rate of close to 160.

Chennai- Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood, the Australian fast bowler, did not have the ideal season with Chennai last year. In nine games, he only took 11 wickets for them. As a result, he was released prior to the 2022 season. Bangalore later bought him in the mega auction. He has now proven to be a great bowler for the men in red and blue. Hazlewood has picked up 10 wickets in the five matches already. He has also been very economical, conceding just 7.16 runs per over.
