In the 32nd and the final league stage of the Hundred 2022, Manchester Originals beat Oval Invincibles by six wickets. With this win, the Originals confirmed their spot in the Eliminator of the tournament, and in effect, destroyed the hopes of Invincibles to qualify.

Batting first, the Invincibles did not have the best start as they lost their top order early on. They were reduced to 23/3 after just 18 balls. Joshua Little was responsible for the early breakthroughs. Captain Sam Billings then resurrected the innings for the visiting team. He was also given some support from the star all-rounder Sam Curran.

The two added a partnership of 56 runs, which proved to be very handy for the team. Curran (24), however, was dismissed in a short will for a team score of 79 in 57 balls. On the other hand, Sam Billings went on to play a spectacular innings and complete his half-century. He finished with the score of 53 runs in 33 deliveries.

He did not get much support from other batters as Little continued his dominance with the ball. The bowler ended with the figures of 13/5 in his quota of 20 balls. Richard Gleeson also took two wickets in the game, while Tom Lammonby took one. Oval Invincibles finished with a score of 143/9.

The Originals got off to a good start in their chase, but the opening partnership did not last long. Laurie Evans (nine) was the first one to be sent back for a team score of 34 on the 18th ball. Philip Salt (19) was quick to follow him. Wayne Madsen then played a great knock of 53 in 39 balls to get back in the game.

He was brilliantly supported by Tristan Stubbs (16), Ashton Turner (26), and Paul Walter (12), all of whom made brief appearances in the chase. The home team made it to the target with one ball to spare. The Invincibles' inability to take wickets ultimately cost them the match.
