West Zone won on a rain-soaked first day of the Duleep Trophy final in Bengaluru. They had South Zone in trouble at 182 for 7 when bad light interrupted the play after most of the last session had been lost to the rain. Except for Hanuma Vihari, who hit 63 off 130 balls with equal parts anger and defiance, none of the other hitters seemed believable.

Even though the surface wasn't green, the cloudy circumstances gave the ball plenty of room to nip around. Chintan Gaja and Arzan Nagwaswalla of Gujarat bowled with excellent discipline to take the first three wickets. Day 2 began with Sundar at the strike and attempting to gain as many runs as possible. With some help from the back end, the team total was 213 all out.

Match Report (Day 2)

Suryakumar Yadav was spotted flopping in the first innings on the second day of the Duleep Trophy 2023 final match. He was playing for West Zone and was expected to have a strong inning, but he got out cheaply. The Mumbai-based batter, on the other hand, began his inning with a six. However, he was caught after scoring 8 runs in 6 balls.

Coming into bat West Zone captain Priyank Panchal by slashing at a wide delivery outside off and got straight to Mayank Agarwal, who took a sharp catch at second slip. Prithvi Shaw got the squad off to a fantastic start against South Zone with a scorching innings game. Prithvi was questioned because of his poor form, but he hit 65 runs in 101 balls, including 9 fours.

Prithvi's dismissal brought the team's total to 101 for the cost of three wickets. In the contest, however, the South Zone squad scored just 213 runs in the first innings. Hanuma Vihari, the captain, had the greatest innings for them, with 63 runs. Tilak Verma scored 40 runs while Mayank Agarwal scored 28 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav will be back in action for the T20I series against the West Indies. Pujara now has 19411 first-class runs and is the fifth-highest run-scorer among Indians, surpassing Wasim Jaffer. The day was called off early due to bad light.
