On 23 December 2022, all franchises of the Indian T20 League participated in the much-mini-auction for the Indian T20 League 2023. All teams submitted their final list of retained and released players list to the Board on 15 November 2022. So, the stage was set for a great bidding war for some big names ahead of the next season.

Meanwhile, Harry Brook was one of the names in the first round of the auction whom teams were looking to keep an eye on him. He impressed everyone with his power-hitting abilities in recent series for England. However, he failed to do so in the 20-20 World Cup. But, he performed brilliantly in the T20I and Test series in Pakistan.

Hyderabad franchise bought Harry Brook for 13.25 Crores for the Indian T20 League 2023

This star middle-order batter surprised everyone with his hitting abilities for England. Before the 20-20 World Cup 2022, England played a seven-match T20I series in Pakistan. They defeated the home side by 4-3 and Harry Brook was the highest run-scorer. He scored 238 runs in six innings, at an average of 79.33. But, his strike rate was the main reason to make headlines in the cricketing world. 

Brook batted at a staggering strike rate of 163.01. Even, in the recently concluded three-match Test series in Pakistan, he managed to score three quickfire hundreds. In that Test series, Brook scored 468 runs in five innings, at an average of 93.60. Even, in the longest format of the game, he batted at a strike rate of 93.41. He hit 12 sixes and 53 boundaries throughout that series. So, there was no surprise when Rajasthan, Bangalore, and Hyderabad franchises got involved in a bidding war for the star batter. His base price was INR 1.5 Crores. Finally, Hyderabad paid INR 13.25 Crores to buy Harry Brook for the next season of the Indian T20 League. Hyderabad franchises went crazy as it was a great addition to their available squad. As of now, Brook has played 20 T20Is for England where he has scored 372 runs in 17 innings. His average is 26.57 with a strike rate of 137.77.
