Australia's ongoing tour to Pakistan is indeed a historic one. It is their first tour of the country since 1998. So far, both the Tests have gone on to be a draw. However, the third Test as well as the limited-overs games are expected to be exciting.
Yet, in a major turn of events, the ODI and T20I series have been shifted to Lahore. Initially, the white-ball games were slated to take place in Rawalpindi. According to a report by Cricket Pakistan, the political scenario has forced this decision to be taken.
The ongoing disagreements between Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan and the rest of the opposition have propelled the limited-overs series to be shifted. Pakistan's Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed recently confirmed the same as well. As far as Khan is concerned, he is set to face a no-confidence vote next week.
Thus, this might cause disruption and impact the tour. A PCB official drew light on the same a few days ago and had said that the series will be shifted to Lahore if the political situation does not change.
"All the four white-ball matches will be shifted to Gaddafi Stadium, where teams are set to play the final Test of the series starting from March 21. In case the political situation in Islamabad stays the same till March 20," said the PCB official.
The white-ball series starts on March 29. The other members of Australia's limited-overs squad are likely to arrive in Lahore by March 24. As far as the three-match Test series is concerned, the team that wins the final Test will win the series. Both teams would want to win the upcoming game as each and every game is crucial in order to reach the Test Championship (WTC) Final.
