Pakistan are set to cross swords with West Indies in the limited-overs series starting on Monday (December 13) in Karachi. The teams will play three ODIs and as many T20Is. The series is a shot in the arm for Pakistan who were taken aback by the withdrawals of the New Zealand and England teams from the tours owing to security issues. The Babar Azam-led team has been in great form in the previous year.

The team started the year with a win over South Africa at home in early 2021. Later, they managed to beat the African nation and Zimbabwe in a T20I series in an away series. Pakistan also reached the semifinals of the 20-20 World Cup and later beat Bangladesh in T20Is and Tests. Under Azam, the team is looking a well-oiled unit.

West Indies have strutted across formats and have been disappointing. Worst, they will also be without their regular skipper Keiron Pollard, who is out due to injury, and several other key players. However, West Indies are unpredictable and dangerous when it comes to white-ball formats.

Head-to-head

Pakistan have dominated West Indies in the shortest format, winning 12 out of the 18 matches. West Indies have managed to win just three games. However, the Caribbean team have an upper hand in the ODIs, winning 71 and losing 60 games.
