After the wait of 17 years, Pakistan fans will witness a star-studded England side on their homeland. The last time, the Three Lions landed in the Asian country, T20Is didn't exist. In 2005, Michael Vaughan led England in Tests and Marcus Trescothick led in the ODIs. The Englishmen played three Tests and five ODIs. Pakistan won the Test series by 2-0 and the ODI series by 3-2.
This time around, the tour consists of two legs. The first leg will see both teams playing seven matches in the T20I format. The tour will continue in December this year for the three-match Test series Between this, both teams have different commitments including the 20-20 World Cup to be played next month. The seven-match series is a preparation for both teams for the showpiece

Talking about the home team, they have pretty much the same team as it was in the Asia Cup 2022. However, they were jolted by the injury to Fakhar Zaman. They were already rocked after the injury to Shaheen Afridi before the continental tournament. In Zaman's place, Shan Masood, who has previously played for Pakistan, has been included. Mohammad Hasnain has been dropped from the team although he would be part of the World Cup squad. Players such as Aamer Jamal and Abrar Ahmed have received their maiden national call-ups.

A lot of fans might have given up on the idea of Alex Hales playing for England again. However, Jason Roy's poor form and Jonny Bairstow's freak injury forced the team to bring Hales back. The right-hander is played for the Three Lions after 2019. On the other hand, players such as Ben Stokes, Tymal Mills, etc won't be part of the team for the series. Notably, both players are names in the 20-20 World Cup squad. Players such as Jordan Cox, Tom Helm, Will Jacks, and Luke Wood are uncapped players.
