According to the most recent reports in TOI, Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly are set to stay with the Delhi Capitals. The DC administration is open to making some changes to their coaching and support staff following yet another poor IPL season. With five victories and nine defeats, the Capitals placed ninth in the standings. In the IPL this year, SRH came in last.

Shane Watson and James Hopes, who worked as the assistant coach and bowling coach for the Delhi Capitals, are likely to be fired. Parth Jindal, a co-owner of DC, started the rumours in a tweet.

“Preparations for next year’s @IPL are underway here @DelhiCapitals, alongside @SGanguly99 and @RickyPonting we assure the fans that Kiran and I are working hard to get back to where we want this franchise to be and that is right at the very top,” tweeted Parth Jindal hinting about the possible changes in the coaching staff.

Ajit Agarkar and Pravin Amre will reportedly be promoted within the coaching staff

Additionally, it seems that Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting will both keep their current jobs. Prior to the IPL 2023, Ganguly returned as the director of cricket, while since 2018 Ponting has served as the team's head coach.

Ajit Agarkar, who has served as an assistant coach for the past two years, is reportedly likely to receive a larger position, according to other reports. Pravin Amre will also receive a new position. “The franchise doesn’t intend to bring any replacement coaches for Watson and Hopes. It’s more about reducing support staff to have more clarity. Amre has done well in getting this franchise a good core of youngsters since 2015. He will be given a free hand to rebuild the side. Ponting and Amre have been common factors when Capitals did well between 2019 and 2022,” a source told TOI.

The Delhi Capitals lost their first five games of the season. They had a very difficult time recovering from the start of the season and competing for a spot in the knockout round. The Capitals' best season yet, the 2020 IPL, saw them reach the final.
