Former batsman Virender Sehwag praised Virat Kohli after his match-winning knock against England in the second T20I. All eyes were on the India captain when he came out to bat on Sunday after being removed for a five-ball duck in the first match. And just when the critics were getting prepared to take shots at him, Kohli came up with a fantastic knock.
The Indian skipper walked out to bat in the second over after Sam Curran dismissed opening batsman KL Rahul. The early wicket did not put much pressure on Kohli as he played a brilliant knock of 73 not out. This helped India chase down 164 with ease. The hosts won the game by seven wickets to level the ongoing series.
Virat Kohli’s 49-ball knock was laced with five boundaries and three sixes. Young debutant Ishan Kishan also impressed everyone by scoring a brilliant half-century. Opening the innings, Kishan smashed 56 off just 32 balls with the help of five boundaries and four sixes.
Sachin Tendulkar often encouraged me to play long innings: Virendra Sehwag
Glorified with Virat Kohli’s match-winning knock, Virender Sehwag praised the Indian captain. Sehwag highlighted that the Indian skipper makes the most of his form with the willow by staying at the crease till the end. Sehwag reckoned that youngsters like Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant should learn from their skipper. Virat Kohli is already placed amongst the greats, and his record in the shortest format is remarkable. In 81 T20I innings, the batsman has remained not out 22 times. In run chases, Kohli averages a mind-nlowing 83.76.
The Indian cricket team made a perfect performance in the second T20I against England. The bowlers bowled brilliant, especially the death bowling was phenomenal. It will now be interesting to see if Virat Kohli and the Indian Team make any changes or continue with the same playing XI.
