On 22 December 2022, team India locked horns with the Bangla Tigers for the second and last match of the ongoing Test series. The Men in Blue were coming off after winning the series opener by a huge margin of 188 runs. So, they were looking for another win while Bangladesh were looking to avoid a clean sweep at home.

Before the Test, reports were there that Rohit Sharma can make a comeback to the team after recovering from his thumb injury. But, He did not manage to join the team and KL Rahul got another opportunity to lead the team like the first match. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant had a dismal start to this series.

Rishabh Pant scored 93 runs off 105 balls against Bangladesh in the second Test

In the first innings of that match, Pant scored a vital 46 runs off 45 balls, including six fours and two sixes. It was a vital contribution as he settled the innings after team India lost the first three wickets for just 48 runs. In the second innings, he did not bat as India lost only two wickets before declaring. However, before the series, Team India went with KL Rahul as the keeper for the ODI series. In the 20-20 World Cup also, he failed to score big in whatever opportunity he got.

Then, in both the ODI and T20I series in New Zealand, Rishabh Pant failed again to score significantly. So, fans were not happy with his form, especially in the white-ball formats. However, Pant has always shown his class with the ball in the longest format of the game. So, in the second Test, he showed the class again he smashed his fifty off just 49 balls. He came out to bat again in this clash when team India were struggling at 72 runs by losing three wickets. Finally, he went on to score 93 runs off 105 balls, including seven fours and five sixes before getting out against Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
