Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel praised MS Dhoni for CSK's recovery in the 14th season of the IPL. The Yellow Army made a strong comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. CSK began their IPL campaign with a loss against Delhi Capitals. However, the 3-time champions were quick enough to make it to the top half of the IPL 2021 points table. Chennai Super Kings also consolidated their position with back-to-back victories. The Chennai-based franchise had one of the most consistent batting line-ups in the tournament. Six of their batsmen had scored half-centuries, and the side didn't have to rely on anyone in particular. Before the IPL was suspended last week, Chennai Super Kings were placed second with 10 points. The Yellow Army had a net run rate of +1.263, which is the highest among all teams.

A strong captain is always needed if a team wants to make a comeback: Parthiv Patel

Former CSK player Parthiv Patel lauded captain MS Dhoni for remarkably handling the team. While speaking to the Star Sports network, the veteran batsman reckoned that a strong captain is always needed if a team wants to make a comeback. Parthiv further pointed out how MS Dhoni decided his batting line-up by keeping the form of the players in mind. Considering Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu had not played any competitive cricket before the IPL 2021, Dhoni decided to go with Moeen Ali at No.3. With this, Moeen became an essential member of the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League. Reflecting on Moeen's impressive form in the IPL, Parthiv Patel praised the English all-rounder for inspiring CSKs' turnaround in the recently suspended tournament.

With a decent average of 34.33, Moeen Ali scored 206 runs for Chennai Super Kings. The all-rounder also picked up five wickets in the league stage of the IPL 2021. Crediting Ms. Dhoni for promoting Moeen up the batting order, Patel reckoned that CSK was in his top four even before the competition started.

Chennai Super Kings registered their worst ever Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign in the UAE last year. MS Dhoni and the team failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in the tournament's history. The yellow brigade finished seventh on the points table after managing just 14 points from 14 games. However, MS Dhoni & Co have bounced back more vigorously and had a great start this season.
