Parthiv Patel, India wicket-keeper, has named Wriddhiman Saha as the best wicketkeeper-batsman of the current era in Test cricket. According to Patel, Saha must come down before Rishabh Pant in Tests.
Some fans disclosed their anger after selectors picked Rishabh Pant picked in the eleven over Wriddhiman Saha, earlier this year. Even though Pant had a great beginning to his Test career with the bat, Saha is a better keeper than the left-handed keeper-batsman.
Parthiv Patel feels there is no comparison between Saha and others
Parthiv Patel strongly backs Saha. He finds him to be the ray of hope for the Indian team wicket-keeping woes after the retirement of MS Dhoni. He feels the right-hander is the best option for the team. Patel believes that if Saha is fit, he must begin to play every game, home and away.
The Indian team selectors and management believe that Saha is fit for wicket-keeping in the Indian conditions. They mostly rely on Pant’s batting on an overseas tour. It compensates for his wicket keeping. Last year, Saha wore the gloves behind the stumps against South Africa and Bangladesh for 5 home Test matches. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant played in New Zealand.
Parthiv Patel told, “I have always maintained that Saha is your best wicketkeeper-batsman in Test cricket. There is no comparison with anyone, as long as he is fit. As long as he is there, he should be keeping for India in Test cricket – whether you are playing abroad or India – Saha is your guy as long as he is fit.”
Patel states KL Rahul is a fantastic wicketkeeper for limited-overs cricket
The 35-year-old further added that he believes KL Rahul to be a fantastic wicket-keeper for limited-overs cricket. Patel does not doubt it. However, he termed test cricket wicket keeping completely different. As per Patel, the four-day cricket format is a long duration for any keeper. He stated that he would give it a long thought before considering that KL Rahul can manage all the three formats. However, for one-day and T20, KL Rahul is the best choice.
KL Rahul will carry out his wicket-keeper duties in all 6 white-ball games during the ongoing Australia tour. However, everyone is eagerly waiting for the revelation of the wicket-keeper’s name for the scheduled Tests in January.
