Parthiv Patel, the wicket-keeper of Royal Challengers Bangalore, feels that RCB skipper Virat Kohli shouldn’t be blamed alone for the failure of RCB in IPL 2020. RCB has yet again become unsuccessful in winning an IPL title.
RCB and its fans are coping with a 13-year title dry spell. Since falling at the final match of IPL 2016, the RCB has been disappointing the fans by ending up last in two of the next three seasons. After a strong performance in the first half of IPL 2020, the team dipped and barely managed to enter the playoffs. They had reached the playoff this season after edging out KKR on the net run-rate. RCB then lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator.
Parthiv Patel states there are many other reasons for the failure
Parthiv Patel began by stating that they had a strong team with all the departments covered. But, some of the stuff turned to be a hindrance in the playoffs. He thought the bowlers were very good at taking the game to the last over while defending a mediocre score of 131.
Patel came forward in the defense of Virat Kohli. He stated that Kohli alone cannot be blamed for the defeats. The left-hander trusts that the head coach of RCB, Simon Katich, and the director of cricket, Mike Hesson, was responsible for the defeats equally.
The wicket-keeper further pointed out that Hesson and Katich are quite experienced coaches; and they too have to share the responsibility of a team’s defeat. And thus putting the entire blame of failure on Kohli is not fair. The team management had benched Patel for the whole season of IPL 2020; despite his good performance during the last year's IPL. The 35-year-old believes that there is more than one aspect involved in the season after season failures of the RCB.
