Kolkata Knight Riders seamer Pat Cummins has donated 50, 000 US dollars for India's fight against Covid-19. The Australian issued a statement on Twitter to confirm the same. Cummins stated that his amount might not be enough but it could help someone in need. Pat Cummins was bought for a whopping Rs 15 crore by KKR at IPL 2020 mini-auction. In a statement on his official Twitter account, the pacer made the announcement and also urged other players to do the same considering the country is battling a second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
India recorded over 3.53 lakh cases on Monday. This is the highest across the world since the pandemic began last year. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals pacer Andrew Tye decided to opt-out from the 14th IPL season. The pacer feared getting locked out of his own country. Other Australian bowlers Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson also pulled out from the remainder of the ongoing league citing personal reasons.
Eoin Morgan & Co. have lost four games in a row
Talking about KKR, the side has been struggling so far in the tournament. The Kolkata based franchise got off to a winning start but they have lost their last four games. Eoin Morgan-led side are currently placed at the bottom of the points table. The middle-order of the team has been quite disappointing in the season and has led to their downfall.
Furthermore, Kolkata should try promoting all-rounder Andre Russell in the batting order. This might help the side as they are wasting him by batting at number seven. Skipper Eoin Morgan will also need to lead from the front with the bat. The left-hander has had a poor season thus far. Kolkata Knight Riders will need to turn the tables before it gets too late for them in the tournament. KKR will next face Punjab Kings in the 21st match of IPL 2021 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
