Paul Stirling and Mehidy Hasan make a huge leap in ICC ODI Rankings

The world governing body of cricket (ICC)published the latest Men's ODI Player Rankings on Wednesday. The Irish cricketer Paul Stirling and Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz have made dramatic gains after their stunning performances in the Cricket World Cup Super League.

ICC published the latest Men's ODI Player Rankings. The Irish cricketer Paul Stirling and Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz have made big gains after their stunning performances in the Cricket World Cup Super League.

Paul Stirling has jumped eight slots to reach 20th position after scoring 285 runs against Afghanistan. This also included centuries in the second and third matches. The all-rounder's courageous efforts against Afghanistan has taken him to the top with 442 runs in six games in the championship. However, Ireland lost the series 3-0. The 30-year-old Irish cricketer also smashed 135 runs in the previous series against the UAE. Nevertheless, the series was not a part of the Super League, and it ended in a 1-1 draw.

Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan was the most flourishing bowler in the series against the West Indies. Bangladesh defeated the hosts 3-0, and his fantastic effort reflects in the latest update of the ODI rankings. 

Alzarri Joseph gained 11 slots to reach 34th position

Mehidy Hasan has now jumped nine spots to take the fourth position in the rankings. The bowler picked up seven wickets including a four-wicket haul in the second ODI for which he was also named the player of the match award. Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman scalped six wickets in the series. This has now elevated him from 19th to the eighth position. Other Bangladesh players including Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have also made leaps in the rankings.

Tamim Iqbal managed to jump one spot and is placed in 22nd position. WI's fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has jumped 11 slots to reach 34th position.

In other takings for the Irish side, Curtis Campher has leapt 81 places and is now 100th among batsmen. Other players including Andy McBrine and Simi Singh have also progressed 30 spots in the rankings. Afghanistan's Hashmatullah Shahidi, Rashid Khan and Javed Ahmadi have also made some progress in batsmen's rankings. The UAE team saw some advances for its players. Muhammad Usman has now moved forward five places to reach 78th position after hitting a hundred in the series's first match. On the other end, Rohan Mustafa moved up six slots to get 55th position.
